Today was warm. We went back to the Englischer Garten to wrassle the Eisbach again. Pictures were taken, and I even have some videos to offer.
I apologize, but I still haven’t looked up how to embed video. For now, please deal with watching each in a separate tab.
- Video 1, or “Surfer wipeout”
- Video 2, or “He surfs well for a German
- Video 3, or “What are ya doing?!”
- Video 4, or “Not so rapid rapids”
My life is awesome.
Matt was kind enough to sprint around through the park to take those videos of us, and of course you only see video of where he could easily have access to the river, e.g. by standing on a bridge. Nonetheless, I think he did a damn good job.

i see you took off your glasses this time
i can’t wait to come visit!
You don’t know that for sure. Maybe the Eisbach took them off again. Also, one of Nico’s friends came with us, and before jumping in he literally just tossed his glasses somewhere in that grass field. It took us forever to find them, and of course he was of absolutely no help during the search. Rock.
You Youngsters!! In my day, there was no embedded video, or instant pictures. Thank goodness you have no cell phone yet. If I had done a blog of my days in Germany, it would have been boring video of “Now we are discussing Leopold Senghor, and his relation to French Culture in Africa, spoken in various accents of German….”
And in my day, we obeyed signs, especially ones that said, “Lebensgefahr!”
Conor, I’m glad you’re havin’ a rockin’ time! Don’t forget that your sister is now havin’ a rockin’ time, too. Odd, how things come in pairs sometimes….
