Patch me or kill me

My computer was running a little pokey today, so I pull open the processes list and take a peak and what’s eating resources.

Firefox gorging on 10GB of virtual memory

Surprise! It’s Firefox, feasting upon my swap file like a beagle in a bakery. Absolutely inexcusable.

I was going to make a “Hungry, Hungry Hippo” joke, but I decided I’d better Google it first, as it seemed like the kind of thing that would have been done before. I’m glad I did, because I found a headline on Digg and was able to make the 1400th digg on it.

Firefox - The Hungry Hungry Hippo? | Digg.com

I’m going to take this opportunity to point out the fact that over 27% of Firefox patches come from volunteers, because it’s the only remotely positive thing I can say about the program right now.

Oh, and extensions rock. I just found one called johnnycache, which I might start using. And I found a blog called Hungry Hungry Hippos, too.

Today is a good day.
