Lazy Friday

I didn’t sleep late this morning, but I did go to bed very early last night. Still trying to shake a cold I may have picked up traveling and not sleeping.

It’s rained steadily all day, not a speck of blue in the sky. It’s perfect. Unfortunately I have the heat turned on in my room, so the glass doors to my balcony have been fogged up most of the day, meaning I don’t get to enjoy the soaked black on gold color palette of autumn.

I’ve been peer pressured into playing boardgames with some friends, because evidently that’s what Germans do on rainy days. There was a scuffle between “Axis & Allies” and “The Settlers,” the latter winning out because it sometimes takes less than eight hours to play just one game.

So that’s what the plan is for now. Since I’ll be away from my computer, but the computer will still be connected to the internet, I’ve set up some transfers, such as uploading pictures of Italy. I don’t plan to go out tonight, as I want to stay healthy (and also Italy was expensive!), so I should have plenty of time to organize the pictures, maybe even caption some of them, and then make a new post.

Wish me luck in whatever the objective of “The Settlers” is. All I know is that they’ve made a computer game of this, and I would think I’d kick ass at that. We’ll see.

    “The Settlers,” eh?

    Pioneers in Conestoga wagons?

    Space aliens investing our brains?

    The SEUDETENLAND?!?

  2. Anne says:

btw, “investing” apparently means a combination of invading and infesting.

Unless they’re banker aliens, which is too horrible to even fantasize about.

Really bad sign that I didn’t see anything wrong with the first comment. I think this whole cultural relativism and linguistic descriptivism thing is finally starting to erode my being.

One of the Germans we played with tonight also is a gamer, and he was talking about the new C&C game, which he’s played more extensively than I. He says aliens invade Earth in it, which made him lose interest, but apparently they land in Munich and spread out from there. Badass.
