Videoblogging after delivering pizza in the rain

As I’ve mentioned before, I work in the evenings for a pizza shop. The money is OK, but what’s really great is that I can work late at night, much later than any other place, and so I can squeeze more hours into my work week, padding my travel fund.

Back when I was painfully broke (after losing my internship), I remember my favorite thing about this pizza job is that inclement weather would not keep me from working, as was—and of course still is—the case with my tour guide job. Now that I’m back in good economic standing, I view working in the pouring rain less like a privilege.

Damn it, I made a video of myself, and that’s supposed to be the content of this post. Enjoy.

  1. Holy shit! I was expecting some heartwarming ending, but he actually took more of the tip away? I really like the videoblog idea, and it seems like you’re a good storyteller so I’d watch more.

  2. Anne says:

I think that was a German heartwarming ending: the guy decided to give him a 55-cent tip instead of no tip. He’s probably all proud of himself.

And YAY! for getting to see and hear you!

  3. Conor says:

Yeah, Mike, actually he was kind of proud of the tip. If the tip is more than a buck, it’s something to write home about. It was just funny that in his sympathy, he tipped me like 50 cents. It’s not at all uncommon for people with a €10.25 bill to hand me a €20, say “make it 11,” then smile magnanimously.

I’ve taken to just shaking the crap out of their pizzas as I extract them from the bag.

  6. hey! really enjoyed the video blog.. adds more character than the average text-orientated blog post.. – i’ll keep tuned in for more..

  7. Conor says:

Thanks a lot, man. It’s funny how such a tiny bit of encouragement really makes me consider doing it again. I’d only planned on the one day thing, just to be able to say that I’d done it, but maybe I’ll make it a once a week or once a month thing.

It definitely does feel different to speak a story rather than type it, and I like that.
