I’m not here to defend Democrats, but I prefer shit that doesn’t drop bombs, I guess.
I also like it when my shit supports socialized higher education and the erection of a mass transit infrastructure. That ain’t the Democrats, to be fair. But it sure as fuck is not the Republicans.

You mean like Boston’s Big Dig, which cost 14.6 BILLION dollars (originally forecast at 4 billion)? And ask Los Angelinos how they like their $3 billion per mile mass transit clusterfuck. And both Dems and GOPers drop bombs. Clinton dropped bombs. Both Bushes dropped bombs.
What they all do is funnel as much money back into their own districts (for both social and military causes) so that they can be re-elected year after year after year.
That’s why I am libertarian. But the Libertarian party just sold out too, by nominating Bob Barr as their presidential nominee.

$15 billion, eh? What’s that, like a month, month and a half in Iraq? According to this it is, but I haven’t researched the source of their data.
I don’t believe that political parties matter as much as people often maintain they do. It’s just nomenclature. To me, it should be about culturing a healthy mentality that is practically all-encompassing, nurturing the formation of educated opinions on economics, international relations, theology, education, healthcare, and so on.
The American people can build a mentality which their politicians must adhere to in order to get elected. It’s easy to focus on the presidential race, but there are a lot of Congressional representatives looking to get elected, whether for the first time or the tenth. Write them. Mine (Tim Holden especially, Arlen Specter to a lesser degree) have been extraordinarily sound-minded, in my opinion.
Videos like this one are a small but vital step in engendering disgust with the morality of the current regime. If that disgust with this type of morality takes root, future mores, which politicians will have to follow, should evolve along a similar path.

Pleasure’s all mine Conor, even if we occasionally butt heads over at Metalsucks (assuming you and I have disagreed about music or whatever).
Don’t get me wrong, though, I think this war is a fucking bloated waste of money and lives. I just don’t want to direct the money to equally bloated and wasteful spending on railroad tracks to no where.

Clinton dropped bombs much more effectively than Bushie boy. The war in Iraq has now gone on longer than World War II. Longer than WW II. While the children of Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld live the good life and marry & start families, never having to live with the heart-clutching fear of THEIR child in combat (hell no, THEY won’t go) or see, like 30,000+ American families see every day, THEIR child struggle with the loss of an arm, a leg, eyes, parts of their brains.
Not ONE member of Bush’s family or extended family served or is serving in Iraq. Not one is active in the War on Terror. And oh, yeah, whatever happened to hunting down that bin Laden guy?

Anne, I do not disagree with anything you said. My only point is that each of the two major parties brings ugly, if different, baggage. I’d like another choice.
