Just dropped an additional 2GB of RAM into my laptop, bringing me up to 3GB total. This is amazing.
Do you see that? My swapfile is empty, dude. Usually right from boot that’s already filling up.

Lots of RAM makes the ol’ vm.swappiness = 0 tweak more or less irrelevant.

Went back and read the FS comparison you’d linked to for building a new tower this summer… still on the fence between ext4 and ext3. I think I might finally take the leap, though.

I think a non-experimental ext4 is targeted for 2.6.27, at least according to Ted Ts’o. Unfortunately, that’s Ibex+1, in all likelihood, unless it gets backported (actually, Ibex+1 will likely be 2.6.28).
